Kristof Kintera

Kristof Kintera is one of the most respected artists working today in the Czech Republic. His artworks push the boundaries of contemporary sculpture. His practice is diverse and includes large public installations, small kinetic devices, and 3D sketches that the artist refers to as "drawings". He deals with appropriation and reuse of the found objects and transformation of everyday things. Kintera infuses his objects with anthropomorphic qualities and re-imagines them as living organisms. He uncovers the hidden spirituality in ordinary often discarded objects and reinvents their mythologies imagining absurd possibilities and unrealistic uses.

Krištof Kintera (born 1973, in Prague, Czech Republic) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam. he had a solo show at the Tinguely Museum in Basel, and has been included in exhibitions at Hamburger Bahnhof, Ludwig Museum, Budapest, Moderna Museet, Stockholm; in MARTa Herford; in Kunstmuseum Bonn; in the Palais de Tokyo, Paris ; Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, Hiroshima Museum of Contemporary Art and The National Museum of Modern Art, Osaka, in the Bawag Foundation, Vienna. He has exhibited at the 8th Triennale Kleinplastik, Fellbach (2001), at NBK, Berlin (2000), at Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst, Leipzig (2000) as well as at “Manifesta II” in the Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'Art Contemporain (1998). Recently he has gain great success with his exhibitions at Tinguely Museum Basel (2012), Kunsthal Rotterdam (2014), and Rudolfinum Gallery 2017, Prague which collated into bringing 162,000 viewers.
